Learning & Development Coordinator
My time is devoted to the carers in our network and potential carers, enabling them to take action to improve any aspect of their caring role. Blending activity with partnership organisations, groups and charities we work collaboratively to achieve an optimum experience for carers of those with dementia.
In one form or another I have been a carer since I was just 8 years old (quite some time ago!!) when my Grandma, who had dementia, came to live with us. She spent five years with us and then moved to a local hospital for a further two years. Over the years since then I have supported family members, members of our church congregation and others in the wider community. Through my voluntary work I have developed Dementia Friendly screenings for our Community Cinema and attended training to help me to understand how to support those with dementia and their carers.
I am delighted to be able to make use of my experience to do what I can to support those in our network.
