Linda's Story- making a difference as a carer

Linda Barnes regularly attends the Young Onset Group, she has taken part in the carer development programme sessions including  ‘Getting your point across and ‘You can’t pour from an empty cup’.

Linda writes a daily blog about her life but by attending the Carer Development Programme and the group, she reported an increase in confidence, so much so that she attended a Clinical network meeting and told her carer story to Clinical staff from the NHS as well as Commissioners and GP’s.

The response was phenomenal with pledges from Health Professionals to adapt the way that they deal with family carers of people with Dementia going forward. Linda went on to host a webinar from tide and has become involved with a Young Dementia working group.

She now speaks on behalf of carers of Young Onset Dementia confidently and feels empowered by the opportunities and confidence that being a member of tide has given her.
