Anne's Sponsored Walking Challenge

We caught up with Anne, one of our tide Advisory Group members, about her sponsored walking challenge. She is walking a marathon every week to raise money for tide!

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to update all the lovely folk who has been following my walking a full marathon a week for 6 month challenge for Tide. I have been adding photos and information on my accrued steps weekly on the update pages.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to my page online already at tide. I am less than £100 away from the £500 target, so please if you are able to, donate anything however small towards my target. Here is a direct link to my page to read my updates if you wish to do so, or donate.

I have enclosed a few photos of my last 12 week journey, Im delighted to say that I have exceeded the 26 mile walk every week, when I have eventually completed the full 6 months I shall do a count of just how many miles I have achieved!

I have loved this challenge, It has taken to me some beautiful places and I have also enjoyed the mindfulness that comes from long walks by a river, seaside or in a park, not to mention art galleries, Robert Burns monument and many more.

As a former, and current home dementia carer, finding quiet time just for me to clear my head has been amazing and beneficial as well as knowing I was doing this to raise awareness and funds for tide, the challenge made me go out on the days when I didn't have the get up and go! So, this challenge has benefited both myself and tide, with half the journey of exploration still to come…. Lets see where it takes me, watch out for the final update early October.
