Katey’s cycle challenge - 659 miles to go!

Katey Twyford, former carer for her dad and former tide Trustee, is pushing the pedals of her bike to cycle 2026 miles in one year - she’s put 1367 miles behind her so is on the home strait. Here’s her latest report:

"At the beginning of the month, it felt there was no end in sight to the cycling. Now at the end of the month, I’m closing in on the last 500 miles. I feel relief that I won’t be cycling forever but also apprehensive about what it will be like when I finish. It reminds me of when dad moved into a care home; I was relieved that the intense caring for Dad at home was ending but apprehensive about what it would be like when I was no longer ‘needed’ as much - what would I do with my ‘free’ time? I needn’t have worried – the care home included my sister and me as part of the care team, and I was able to reclaim my role of daughter instead of being carer, housekeeper, financier etc. Based on carer’s experiences, Tide have some great training resources to help care homes embrace shared care with family members. A complementary resource for carers will be available soon. See Shared Care: Training and Resources.

Thank you so much to everyone who has kindly made a donation to tide for Katey’s cycling activity. If you haven’t done so already, you can donate here - https://tide.enthuse.com/pf/katey-williams

Tide selected as charity of the year by LACE

We are delighted to announce that tide has been chosen as charity of the year by LACE Partners! This is their message to us:

"LACE Partners is a London‑based HR, workforce, and payroll transformation consultancy that puts people at the heart of everything we do. Each year, our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative brings our team together to support meaningful causes through fundraising, awareness activities, and volunteering. From bake sales and quizzes to wellbeing initiatives and community events, CSR is a vital part of our culture, offering a way for our people to give back to causes that genuinely matter to them. This year, tide was chosen as one of our two partner charities because many of our colleagues have personal experiences of supporting family members with dementia, and we deeply connect with tide’s mission to champion, empower, and give voices to unpaid and family carers. We’re proud to be supporting tide throughout the year and look forward to helping raise both awareness and vital funds for the incredible work you do."
